Sort of makes you wonder why that's the default way of doing things . . .Jaredhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14271936727802875963noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110180.post-1122080280213506582005-07-22T17:58:00.000-07:002005-07-22T17:58:00.000-07:00Interesting topic... gross headline.I was under th...Interesting topic... gross headline.

I was under the impression Eclipse had a similar setting to IDEA as patrick mentioned.

That's probably a better alternative as you don't have issues with clashing with other users on the same system. Also, on some systems /tmp is in swap space which would degrade performance far worse than Eclipse's syncing :)

Certainly worth a FAQ entry though.Brett Porterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17879313183480252542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110180.post-1122069735957555272005-07-22T15:02:00.000-07:002005-07-22T15:02:00.000-07:00Howard,In IDEA, you can exclude certain directorie...Howard,
In IDEA, you can exclude certain directories such that they won't be indexed. When doing an update with smartcvs eclipse would thrash big time. You can change this in Preferences->Workspace.

However, when you do decide manually update workspace, it may still take a long time.Barry Kaplanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08796187535078619775noreply@blogger.com
